Identify the provider
Look at your water bill. In an apartment or a community with included utilities, ask the manager which public water system supplies the address.
Choose the right report
Providers can operate more than one service area. Match your address or system name to the report before reading its measurements.
Separate system data from home data
An annual report summarizes testing across a public system. Plumbing and conditions at your own tap can differ. A targeted home or laboratory test answers a different question.
Your well needs its own testing.
A utility report does not apply to a private well. The EPA recommends annual testing for total coliform bacteria, nitrates, total dissolved solids and pH, with additional tests based on local conditions and concerns.
